New CNN poll shows Democrats up big heading into midterm election season. Can Republicans claw back to avoid a blue wave?

A new CNN poll out today shows Democrats with a 6-point advantage over Republicans on a generic Congressional ballot. That polling advantage matches the one Democrats had at this point in 2018. That 2018 election led to a blue wave in November, with Democrats picking up 41 seats. One thing that is different this time—Democrats poll even worse on party favorability than Republicans do, sitting 28 points underwater. The Inside Politics panel breaks down the numbers that give us a snapshot of how the electorate feels as primary season heats up.
