An unusually powerful storm for March that stretched from the US-Canada border to the US-Mexico border had powerful hurricane-force winds that kicked up and blew snow around so violently it created a blizzard in parts of the Plains and Midwest. Whiteout conditions made visibility so poor it stranded drivers and caused multi-car crashes on roadways across the regions.
