FILE - In this March 29, 2016 file photo, Jack McCullough, 76, appears in court for a hearing on his petition for post-conviction relief at the DeKalb County Courthouse in Sycamore, Ill. McCullough was convicted in 2012 for the 1957 slaying of Maria Ridulph, of Sycamore. But State's Attorney Richard Schmack said that the investigation and prosecution was flawed. A hearing is scheduled for Friday, April 1, 2016, for a judge to consider a request to release McCullough. (Danielle Guerra/Daily Chronicle via AP, File) MANDATORY CREDIT, CHICAGO TRIBUNE OUT
