The death of Jimmie Lee Jackson
Vera Booker was a 29-year-old nurse at Selma's black-run Good Samaritan Hospital and treated Jimmie Lee Jackson, a 26-year-old black man who was shot by a white state trooper in February 1965. His death was the inspiration for the Bloody Sunday March to Montgomery.
