Some Harvard students have praised the response from President Alan M. Garber in the wake of the Trump administration’s unprecedented policy demands on the Ivy League university. On Monday, the administration announced it would freeze $2.2 billion in multi-year grants and $60 million in multi-year contract value after the school refused to eliminate diversity, equity and inclusion programs, ban masks at campus protests and reduce the power held by faculty and administrators “more committed to activism than scholarship”, among other mandates.
