Son of American citizen detained in Cuba says US-Cuba talks will be a failure if they don't result in release of prisoners

CNN's Boris Sanchez speaks with Michael Peralta, the son of Miami school teacher Alina López Miyares who has been held in Cuba for nine years. Peralta describes how difficult his mother's detention has been for López and her family. A source at the U.S. State Department tells Sanchez the Trump Administration has brought up López's case with Cuban authorities, advocating for her release on humanitarian grounds. Sanchez reached out to the Cuban embassy in Washington, D.C. for comment on three separate occasions. They did not respond.
