The new National Women's Soccer League season kicks off on Friday March 13 in the United States with two expansion teams - Boston and Denver - entering the fray and upping the total to 16 franchises competing for the season-ending trophy. Atlanta meanwhile is slated to join in the 2028 campaign with more clubs potentially in the works. The league had a major boost in January when Washington resigned superstar Trinity Rodman to a three-year contract and making sure the 23-year-old remains stateside. The deal was made possible by recently implemented "Rodman Rule" which allows teams to spend up to $1 million over the salary cap in order to be able to keep top players.
