President Donald Trump was in France this week, meeting with other world leaders at the G7 summit to confront a long list of geopolitical and economic challenges.

On Wednesday, he officially signed an agreement with Iran, kicking off a 60-day period of negotiations on a final deal to end the war.

“This was not easy,” Trump said while signing the memorandum of understanding at the Palace of Versailles in France. The agreement aims to expand on a ceasefire and get traffic flowing through the Strait of Hormuz.

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian touted the agreement as a “historic document,” calling it a “message from a strong Iran.”

On Friday, Israel and Hezbollah agreed to renew a ceasefire, sources told CNN, as fighting between the Israeli military and the Iran-backed militant group threatened to derail negotiations between the US and Iran.

Here are some of the stories that made headlines over the past week, as well as some photos that caught our eye.
