Lionel Messi, fresh off his triumphant World Cup with Argentina, already has his first trophy in the United States.

Messi scored a sensational goal — his 10th goal in seven matches — to help Inter Miami win the final of the Leagues Cup tournament on Sunday, August 20. It is the 44th trophy of Messi's career, making him the most decorated men's footballer in the sport's history, according to ESPN.

Messi is widely considered to be one of the sport's all-time greatest players, and for many he is at the top of the list. He is Argentina's all-time leading goalscorer, and he led his country to a World Cup victory in December. At club level, he is the all-time leading scorer for FC Barcelona and the Spanish soccer league La Liga. He played the last two seasons with French club Paris Saint-Germain.

Messi has won the Ballon d'Or trophy, given annually to the sport's top player, a record seven times. He has also won four Champions League titles with Barcelona.

As part of the contract, Barcelona agreed to pay for Messi's hormone treatments.
