US Sen. Bernie Sanders will win the Nevada caucuses, CNN projects, building on the momentum he gained from his New Hampshire victory last week.
The Nevada win amplifies Sanders' argument that he can broaden his appeal across the Democratic electorate. This is the most diverse state yet in the party's nomination process.
"We have just put together a multigenerational, multiracial coalition which is going to not only win in Nevada, it's going to sweep this country," Sanders said in a speech after he was projected as the winner.
The campaign now shifts to South Carolina, which will hold its primary next Saturday.
