Zimbabwe's wild river —
The Zambezi, crawling along the border of Zimbabwe, is the fourth longest river in Africa. It's home to hungry crocodiles and big herds of hippos -- one of Africa's deadliest animals.

4th longest river in Africa —
The river runs some 2,500 kilometers, from Zambia to Mozambique, where it outlets into the Indian Ocean.

Wildlife —
The river is flanked by wildlife reserves including the Victoria Falls and Zambezi National Park, with two special game-viewing sections. Elephants can be seen on the mainland or by the river banks.

River activities —
In addition to kayaking, river activities include guided tours to the famed Victoria Falls, whitewater rafting and bungee jumping.

Aggressive hippos —
While often portrayed as goofy, awkward animals in cartoons (and board games), hippos can be aggressive toward humans, sometimes chomping them into three pieces using their giant teeth.

Croc encounters —
Experienced kayaking guide Rob Shattock says that on one of his first canoe safaris, decades ago, a crocodile actually snapped his graphite paddle. He hasn't had any incidents since, he adds.

Zimbabwe National Park —
The Zimbabwean side of the Zambezi is a relatively untouched national parkland.

Glamping at Zambezi —
Zambezi Sands is a luxury tented camp on the banks of the river that runs kayaking tours.

Luxury tents —
Zambezi Sands features eight luxury tents with private splash pools, outdoor showers and unbeatable views of the river.
