Wealthy vacationers: Most of us will never set foot in a superyacht, but for those in the top 1% wealth bracket, it's one of the best ways to see the world. So what are 2019's biggest superyacht trends?

Bigger and better: One key theme is superyachts getting ever bigger. Pictured here: Oceanco's 2018 ship Project Bravo -- it's 109 meter long.

Sizing up: The team from superyacht shipyard Feadship agrees that the number of supersize yachts is increasing. Pictured here: Oceanco's Project Bravo.

On board Anna: Another yacht that just breaches the 100-meter mark is Anna -- a 100-meter yacht built in 2018 by Dutch shipyard Feadships.

First time buyer: TIS is a 2018 vessel from German shipbuilders Lurssen that's 111 meters long. Reports say the owner had chartered many superyachts over the years before deciding to construct his own.

Incredible experience: Oceanco's Jubilee, pictured, went on sale in 2018 -- it was originally built for the late Emir of Qatar -- and reports suggest that the new owner is an American businessman.

Amazing features: The upcoming Lady S, initially called Project 814, is another Feadship vessel. The 93-meter vessel has a two-deck IMAX theater and a helipad.

Close to water: Another trend is giving yacht passengers the feeling of being closer to the water. The designs for upcoming Fincantieri yacht Mirage show that it will reflects water with its glass panels.

Ocean calling: British yacht design company H2 says that traditionally life on a yacht used to be up on sundeck; now an area closer to the water is most desirable. Pictured here: Fincantieri's design for its upcoming Private Bay yacht.

Eco-friendly: There's now a trend to make superyachts less environmentally harmful. Ships such as Oceanco's Black Pearl can navigate on sail power.

Innovative ideas: Black Pearl won "Best Naval Architecture for Sailing Yachts" in the 2019 Boat International Design & Innovation Awards.

Engineering marvel: The owner of Black Pearl has an engineering background and was keen to own a yacht that was more environmentally friendly.

Future developments: Oceanco are also talking about developing solar sails for the Black Pearl, once the technology is available.

Hybrid future: Sailing Yacht A also uses hybrid fuel techniques.

Seafaring life: Yacht A has an elevator on its 100-meter-tall masts, allowing guests to travel to the top and admire the sea views. Sailing Yacht A's exterior and interior is designed by Philippe Starck.

Settling for compromise: Nobiskrug says that owners are willing to pay more for more emission-free features, but the yachts are never going to be completely emission-free.

Explorer vessel: Another superyacht trend is the move towards "explorer" yachts -- they're state-of-the-art, but also able to contribute towards ocean research projects and trek into choppier waters. Pictured here is a design for upcoming superyacht REV Ocean. The largest superyacht currently under construction is projected to measure 182.6 meters.

Ocean exploration: "It's one thing to sail on top of the ocean but there's so much technology available now that lets you get underneath the water and explore the oceans in a completely unique way," REV Ocean's communication manager, Lawrence Hislop, tells CNN Travel.
