Ghost airport —
Ciudad Real International, Spain's so-called "ghost airport," has been put up for auction starting at $150 million. Flights dwindled to an end a year ago.

Looks terminal —
Opening in 2008, the airport cost a reported $1.5 billion -- 10 times its current starting auction price -- to build.

Get Ciudad Real —
The airport is located in one of Spain's least populated regions, next to what Lonely Planet calls "an unspectacular Spanish working town" -- Ciudad Real.

Wait no more —
No one visits Ciduad Real International's visitor center any more.

Quixotic —
The airport was originally called Aeropuerto Don Quijote. The literary character also gave rise to "quixotic" -- meaning extravagant and unrealistic.

Signs of no life —
The airport was designed to handle 10 million passengers a year. Now that silhouette is about the closest thing to one.

Mid-air —
This partially completed walkway was meant to connect Ciudad Real International Airport with an adjacent train station.

Nothing to look at here —
Nobody will be "pushing tin" at Ciudad Real's control tower any time soon.
