
Camiño dos Faros: Cape Finisterre Lighthouse occupies a dramatic perch. It was built in 1853 and marks one end of the coastal hiking route called Camiño dos Faros in Galicia, Spain.

Finisterre: Visitors wait for sunset at Cape Finisterre. Finisterre means "Land's End" in Latin.

End of the world: Visitors make their way toward Cape Finisterre, which was once considered to be the end of the known world.

Beach vacation: Just outside of Fisterra, a handful of people sun themselves on Playa Langosteira.

Local monument: In 2002, the damaged Prestige oil tanker split in two. A sculpture in the town of Muxia called "A Ferida" ("The Wound") is a monument to the disastrous oil spill.

Lighthouse: Cabo Vilán Lighthouse is set on a rocky promontory north of Camariñas.

Terrain: The landscape varies greatly along the trail, veering from sandy beaches and windswept cliffs to lush forests.

Architecture: Rustic buildings such as this mill are tucked away amid the greenery.

The trail: Hikers follow the lighthouse trail, Camiño dos Faros, near Traba Beach and the town of Laxe.

Galicia: Malpica is at the northern end of the trail along the Costa da Morte.
