Pennsylvania clockmaker and millwright Joseph Ellicott completed this tall case clock in 1769. The clock shows the phases of the moon and plays musical tunes on the hour.
Fragment of Plymouth Rock, 1620 —
Early American history is represented in the exhibit by a fragment of Plymouth Rock, where it's said the pilgrims first landed in the New World in 1620.
Samuel Williams' telescope, 1768-69 —
Built by Edward Nairne of London, this telescope was used by Samuel Williams, a minister and professor of astronomy at Harvard College, to study the 1769 transit of Venus across the sun.
