Most searched destinations of 2013 —
Google's annual year-in-review Zeitgeist charts reveals the most-searched destinations by country. Rome was the number one trending destination from the United Kingdom this year. Google's "trending" search terms are those that showed the biggest growth in searches, compared to last year. New York and Amsterdam were second and third on the list.

Mexico —
Mexico was the top trending term for U.S. destination wedding locations.

Disneyland —
The Magic Kingdom (Disneyland) retains its most popular title in a few countries. It was the top destination for Australians, despite the fact that the closest one is in Hong Kong. It was also the number one most searched domestic travel destination within Japan.

London —
London was the most searched destination in the United Arab Emirates and was also popular with Australia and New Zealand.

Macau —
The world leader in gambling revenue was the most searched destination within India.

Hangzhou, China —
While Google only has 2.3% market share in China, Google's study also looked at top searches in what will soon become the world's largest domestic travel market. Hangzhou and Suzhou were declared the destinations of greatest interest to travelers within China.

Koh Lahn, Thailand —
"This info is gold if you want to really know what the local hotspots are," says Google spokesperson Joyce Hau. "For instance, what island destination is the most popular amongst Thais in Thailand? Hint: it's not Koh Samui." It's actually Koh Lahn, pictured.

Sky Ranch Tagaytay, Philippines —
An amusement park in Tagaytay City topped the domestic travel searches in the Philippines, perhaps not what any foreign traveler to the country would expect.

Kenting National Park, Taiwan —
This beautiful national park -- one of our top spots to watch sunsets -- was the most popular among Taiwanese searchers.

Genting Highlands, Malaysia —
This hill resort, accessible by cable car, is where Malaysians want to go the most.
