Festival season: Over two decades, Lightning in a Bottle has evolved into a five-day arts and music festival that's part Burning Man, part Coachella. This year, LIB took place in Bakersfield, California.

Down by the lake: The Buena Vista Aquatic Recreational Center is LIB's fifth venue in 15 years.

Who's who: The festival originally catered to ages 25 to 32, but in recent years, its demographics have started to skew younger.

Press play: There's an interactive experience in every nook of the festival grounds, like the Mixtape's '70s living room where visitors can play cassette tapes.

The beats: LIB's lineup featured more than 240 artists with diverse backgrounds. On Saturday, vaudeville dance group Sepiatonic performed at the Grand Artique stage.

Artist enclave: Despite a growing festival scene, LIB will always be a place for creative people to express themselves, says co-founder Dede Flemming.
