The Hermitage Hotel: Opened in 1910, this historic Nashville hotel has recently revealed a lavish new look from design studio ForrestPerkins. A brighter color palette brings a more modern feel to the grand lobby.

Design details: The ornamental plasterwork and Tennessee marble have been carefully restored.

Guest rooms: The same serene palette has been carried into the guest rooms and suites, which have been overhauled with new furnishings and textiles.

On the veranda: Design firm ForrestPerkins added a single bird to a ceiling mural on the hotel's veranda during a previous redesign. That motif has now been woven throughout the refreshed spaces.

Presidential suite: The luxurious presidential suite features custom art, a new library that doubles as a study and a bathroom with a walk-in shower and soaking tub.

New restaurants: Two new restaurants from Michelin-starred chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten opened earlier this year. Thomas-Juul Hansen handled the design of those projects.

Drusie & Darr: Jean-Georges Vongerichten's new restaurant features a modern American menu showcasing local, seasonal ingredients.
