Surreal Superkilen —
Copenhagen's Superkilen Park is a half-mile-long urban space near the city's bohemian Norrebro neighborhood.

Bull and (Donut) ring —
Superkilen is filled with eclectic items from around the world, including an American "Donut" sign and a Spanish bull.

Red Square —
The idiosyncratic collection of objects and designs in Superkilen Park reflects the diversity of a neighborhood made up of 60 nationalities.

Danish recreations —
Some of the objects in Superkilen are originals. Others are replicas designed to comply with Danish regulations for playground materials and public spaces.

Mogadishu stadium —
A basketball court is modeled on Mogadishu's Lujino Stadium, a venue once used by the militant Al-Shabaab group to launch assaults on Somalia's presidential palace.

Japanese octopus —
The park hosts a plastic Japanese octopus and an elephant from Chernobyl, both doubling as play equipment for kids.

Ambitious architects —
Superkilen's architects wanted to create a "world expo" with help from diverse local residents, all to serve as an antidote to typical park designs.

Walk the lines —
The Black Square is the one of the most visually exciting and engaging parts of the project.

Ultra vivid scene —
The area is due for a refurbishment next year to enhance the color scheme and to make it more slip-resistant for pedestrians and cyclists.

Pink city prizes —
There have been honors for Superkilen, including a nomination for the prestigious 2013 Mies Van Der Rohe architecture prize.
