Escape from Australia: The redeveloped WA Museum Boola Bardip includes an exhibit on the story of the Catalpa, named for the ship six Irish prisoners escaped Australia on in 1876. The display includes a painting of the vessel, pictured.

WA Museum Boola Bardip: The museum reopened on November 21, 2020, following four years of redevelopment. Featuring eight new galleries, it's located on the same site it's occupied since 1891, when it opened as a geological museum in the Old Perth Gaol.

Fremantle Prison: View of the main cell block and parade ground at Fremantle Prison, where the six Irish men were imprisoned before their escape. Today, the prison offers guided tours.

Catalpa Memorial: Located at the site of the shore the prisoners escaped from in Perth, the Catalpa Memorial was erected in 2006.

Wild Geese: The statue features a frozen flock of wild geese, the name given to Irish soldiers who served in foreign armies in the 17th and 18th centuries. It later became a common term for the millions of Irish migrants scattered across the globe.

Remembering the six: Engraved into the base of the stone statue are images of the six men rescued by the Catalpa ship -- James Wilson, Martin Hogan, Robert Cranston, Thomas Darragh, Michael Harrington and Thomas Hassett.
