Red light Bangkok tours —
Local companies are cashing in on demand from timid thrill seekers who want to safely experience Bangkok's infamously raunchy clubs. Chaperoned tours guide visitors to places such as this Soi Cowboy street bar, where female workers wait for business.

Movie followers —
The Bangkok Hangover Tour celebrates the film "Hangover Part II." The tour begins in the same bar on Soi Cowboy (pictured) where some of the movie's scenes were filmed.

Hangover Tour —
British tourists Cameron Johnson and his brother, Brad, accompanied by a Hangover Tour guide, on Soi Cowboy. The tattoo sticker "acts like a mask ... and you just forget about who you are back home, and you just sort of go with it," says Brad.

Nana Plaza —
Bangkok's Nana Entertainment Zone (or Nana Plaza) offers tour-goers plenty of outgoing transgender women and a bar where customers are lured onstage and spanked.

Scary proposal —
Stories of that "one night in Bangkok" gone wrong are consistent fodder in local forums discussing the city's red light areas. The tours offer a "safe" way to enjoy the action, say operators. "Sex tours to the nightlife in Bangkok, or anywhere, are harmful to both the tourist and the women," says the CEO of NightLight International, which works to end commercial sexual exploitation.

VIP treatment —
A recent Bucks Tour ended at a popular upmarket Sukhumvit Road nightclub, where customers were escorted to an exclusive table.
