This shot was taken from the observation deck of the Burj Khalifa. More than 828 meters (2,717 feet) high, it's the tallest building in the world.

Jolie takes her inspiration from the urban environment and features in some of her shots of the city.

This image shows part of The World Islands, a group of artificial islands four kilometers off the coast of Dubai, constructed in the shape of a world map.

The Dubai-born photographer says aerial photography gives a simpler understanding of cities, away from the bustle of the ground.

Jolie developed her style while working for a news agency, assigned to photograph the construction of the Burj Khalifa in 2007. She took this image from a nearby hotel rooftop.

Capturing the perspective from the ground, Jolie snapped this shot of Dubai Marina, a luxury residential complex.

Jolie says she has been taking photographs from helicopters for some 10 years. This image was taken over Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Jolie showcases her photographs of Dubai on her social media channels, including Instagram.
