
A House to die in —
This private residence, designed for artist Bjarne Melgaard, is the latest project of Norwegian firm Snøhetta. Still in the design stage, it would be built close to Edward Munch's atelier, in a leafy area just outside Oslo.

A House to die in —
The house will be clad with black oak, taking inspiration from Japanese building traditions. It will naturally erode over time, so the building's appearance will mutate over the years and seasons. A shallow water pond below the structure give the illusion of a "floating" building.

Snøhetta has a history of striking designs. This is "7th room," an addition to the Treehotel, which opened in 2017 in the tall pine forest of Northern Sweden.
