The Hawa Mahal is an extension of Jaipur's City Palace. Its windows allowed royal women to observe street life without appearing in public.

Photographers Victor Cheng and Samantha Wong were attracted to Jaipur because of its pastel coloring and impressive architecture.

Although the City Palace exterior is pink, the interiors will often use other vibrant colors. This is the Sukh Niwas Blue Room, located inside the City Palace.

India's impressive ancient stepwells were historically used to descend towards a body of water to collect water for daily use. Stepwells can be found across India, including in Jaipur (above).

Jaipur is protected by a city wall, and is accessed by one of its nine gates. Just outside of the city are several forts, which were also used for protection.

"A lot of the buildings were designed to be very symmetrical, which from a photographer's perspective works out very nicely," said Victor Cheng.

Jaipur is often referred to as the "Pink City." The city was painted pink in 1876 to welcome Queen Victoria's husband, Prince Albert, and still maintains its reddish hue today.

For the photographers, one of the city's most intriguing traits to capture is its pastel pink coloring.
