"Beck represents the indie spirit as much, or more, than anyone," Ferguson writes. This under-the-rain image was taken outside a taco shop in Hollywood in 2006, as part of a shoot for 'Mojo' magazine to publicize his album 'Guero.'

The Strokes, shot for 'Rolling Stone' in 2001 after their performance at The Troubadour in Hollywood. "The Strokes are to indie what Nirvana was to grunge" Ferguson writes in the book.

"Peaches wasn't afraid to put on a show," Ferguson said. She photographed the singer on different occasions, including dive bars and unconventional settings, like this one, where she's singing with a DJ crew behind her, in 2003.

"Looking at this photograph now I see a girl who was given a tremendous gift that she was sadly unable to handle" Ferguson writes of a photo taken of Amy Winehouse performing at Coachella in 2007. "Unfortunately, Amy's light burned a little too bright, and we still miss her."

"I remember it rained for the entire shoot with Pavement" Ferguon recalled. "We were in Portland, Oregon, and had to do it indoors. Then, just as we were about to wrap up, the sun came out, and a rainbow too, so we went out to an abandoned lot and I took the photo."

Beck, who graces the cover of "Indie,Seen," is pictured in a shot for 'Mojo' magazine in 2006. "He's such a kind, funny person," Ferguson said.
