GITEX DIGI HEALTH 5.0 gathered innovators and leaders from the most influential medical labs, hospitals, and healthcare institutions to explore AI opportunities in healthcare.
One of the standout innovations was presented by Denis Ledenkof, Founder of Robosculptor, who showcased an AI-powered robotic platform for body treatments. This autonomous technology promises to enhance patient outcomes by delivering precise, touchless wellness therapies.
“AI is a powerful tool leading to better patient preferences,” said Ledenkof. “Robotic treatments help improve patient experiences by offering more therapy options and enhancing accessibility.”
Dubai’s own deep tech company, Xpanceo, made waves by unveiling smart contact lenses capable of 3D imaging and wireless data transmission, pushing the limits of real-time data perception. Oracle Health showcased its Clinical Digital Assistant, which uses AI-driven voice recognition to document physician-patient encounters, streamlining the clinical documentation process autonomously.
AI also received an endorsement from Dr. Shameer Khader, Executive Director of Precision Medicine and Computational Biology at leading immunology healthcare company Sanofi.
“Drug discovery on average takes 10-15 years and one project around $1.5-2 billion in cost – is that something sustainable?” he asked. “The model must change and we should harness AI capabilities and value across the ecosystem. We should optimize every single process to reduce development costs, streamline the drug discovery lifestyle, and build data disease models and infrastructure.”
A vibrant new era for urban transportation
Mobility was another major theme at GITEX GLOBAL 2024, focusing on next-gen autonomous vehicles, electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft, and innovative charging systems.
Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) unveiled a pioneering palm-based payment system. Set to replace card-based ticketing by 2026, the system will allow passengers to use their palm to pay for various modes of transport, including the Metro, buses, trams, and marine services.
The future of mobility at GITEX GLOBAL 2024
“Pay-by-palm is one of our most important initiatives,” said Salahaldeen AlMarzooqi, Director of the Automated Collection System Department at RTA. “This will foster a cashless payment culture and encourage people to shift from a car-oriented lifestyle to using public transportation.”
Another attention-grabbing innovation was Zapata’s Airscooter, an advanced personal flying machine that can reach speeds up to 63 mph, which gave attendees a glimpse of the future of urban mobility.
Confronting global challenges
With global cybercrime damage projected to hit $10.5 trillion annually by 2025, cybersecurity was a hot topic at GITEX GLOBAL 2024. Cybersecurity Day brought together top CISOs, CIOs, and GRC leaders to discuss the urgent challenges AI can help address.
H.E. Dr. Mohamed Al Kuwaiti, Head of Cybersecurity for the UAE Government, emphasized AI’s transformative role in cybersecurity. “AI is changing the game,” he said. “The UAE faced 71 million attacks in Q1 2024 alone. We are resilient and thwarted these with early threat detection through AI.” Todd Conklin from the US Department of the Treasury echoed these sentiments, noting that AI models have helped reduce fraud in the US by nearly $600 million over the past six months.

The Intelligent Connectivity Conference also spotlighted the impact of AI and 5G in building a hyperconnected future. With 5G-Advanced (5G-A) technologies taking center stage, industry leaders discussed how these advancements will revolutionize telecommunications and beyond.
Siyuan Liu, Head of IoT Partnership & Strategy at China Unicom Global, spoke on a panel about how 5G is central to developing autonomous vehicles – helping to make more accurate decisions which can consequently enhance transportation safety and efficiency.
Innovations showcased at GITEX GLOBAL, like the Nissan Hyper Force, an all-electric supercar with 5G SIM cards, and e&’s human-digital advisors, which blend hologram technology and AI, all demonstrated the endless transformative potential of 5G-A.
Looking to the future
GITEX GLOBAL provided not only a unique glimpse into the future of technology but also a demonstration of AI’s potential to reshape industries and drive economic growth.
“The power of AI is so great,” said Peng Xiao, Group CEO of AI company G42. “We believe once you have the grids, information and intelligence will flow freely around the world, unlocking the potential for many industries, including energy, financial services, biotech, healthcare, and security.”
From healthcare solutions that promise to elevate patient care standards to mobility innovations redefining urban transport and emerging technologies combating cybercrime, GITEX GLOBAL remains the premier platform for exploring how technology will build a smarter, more connected future.
