This Sunday, for the first time ever, Joni Mitchell performed at the Grammy Awards. The 80-year-old singer-songwriter, who has won 10 Grammys over the years and was given a lifetime achievement award in 2002, sang “Both Sides, Now” while seated on a grand upholstered chair, surrounded by live musicians.

Mitchell won her latest Grammy this year in the Best Folk Album category. Her live album “Joni Mitchell at Newport” was recorded during a surprise performance at the 2022 Newport Folk Festival in Rhode Island.

Mitchell, a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, is best known for 1970s hits such as “Big Yellow Taxi,” “Blue,” “Amelia” and “Woodstock.” She had a brain aneurysm in 2015, one that required rehabilitation and physical therapy to recover.
