New Yorkers gathered Friday to mark the 19th anniversary of the September 11 terror attacks.
But this year's tributes were unlike those of the past.
Because of the coronavirus pandemic, most people in attendance wore masks and tried to practice social distancing.
Also this year, the 9/11 Memorial and Museum did not hold a live reading of the victims' names. Out of an abundance of caution, the names were recorded and then broadcast during the official ceremony.
There was also an alternate ceremony, held a few blocks away by the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, where the names were read aloud by victims' family members. The speakers shared more detail of who each victim was and what their life was like.
