Van der Zwaan is a Dutch lawyer tied to Rick Gates, who was a deputy campaign chairman for Donald Trump. Van der Zwaan admitted to lying to investigators and failing to turn over emails to Robert Mueller's team in February. He is the first person to be sentenced in the Mueller investigation, which is examining Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election.
