Students at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School are demanding tougher gun laws after 17 people were killed at their school. "They're going to be voters soon," Luckovich said.

"We should not have to worry about our kids going off to school," he said. Luckovich drew this comic after the shooting in Parkland, Florida.

"We're the greatest country in the world. This is a solvable problem. That's what's so frustrating," Luckovich said.

"I would love to see Republicans and Democrats just come together and do something for our country -- just put aside the money and the B.S. and just do what is right," he said.

Luckovich says he thinks keeping "military-grade" weapons out of civilian hands would help reduce the violence.

"My anger and my shock and sadness really helps propel me and that helps me focus and concentrate," he said. "I really wish I didn't have to."

"I feel like in my small way I'm making a contribution to the dialogue, and It's really gratifying," he said.
