It was Palace who would draw first blood thanks to substitute Jason Puncheon's well struck shot.

But United equalized within 135 seconds as Juan Mata finished low beyond Palace keeper Wayne Hennessey.

The game seemed to turn in Palace's favor as Chris Smalling received a second yellow card and his marching orders in extra time.

But United sub, Jesse Lingard, had the final say as he scored the winning goal with 10 minutes to go.
