The 'Containerscraper' design from CRG Architects would use shipping containers to provide housing for around 5,000 inhabitants of the Dharavi slum in Mumbai, India.

The architects aim to construct two towers, the larger of which would be the tallest in India at 400 meters tall.

Containers would be colored from yellow to blue to regulate the city's fierce, sometimes deadly heat. The design includes non-residential units for water or public spaces.

The containers would be arranged around a hollow center, and the interior space which would be used for an elevator and access ramps.

The spatial arrangement allows ventilation and 360-degree views for residents.

The versatile units can be divided, merged and re-purposed.

Each unit is connected to the building's infrastructure services.

CRG's design placed third at a recent competition to provide housing solutions for Dharavi.
