Fans of the late bestselling author Vince Flynn and his hero, CIA counterterrorist agent Mitch Rapp, are eagerly anticipating the release of his last book, "The Survivor." Flynn's estate agreed to allow author Kyle Mills to finish writing Flynn's uncompleted manuscript, which echoes the story of Edward Snowden. And Rapp will be back, because Mills is under contract to write two more.

Bosch's half-brother, defense attorney Mickey Haller, needs his help finding out whether a client accused of murder is being set up. The investigation takes him inside the LAPD, which could prove dangerous.

It's no surprise that "The Notebook" author Nicholas Sparks' latest book, "See Me," has romance. At age 28, Colin Hancock has straightened out his life and is trying to live a respectable life, with no plans to fall in love. That is, until he meets Maria Sanchez, the daughter of Mexican immigrants. "See Me" becomes a thriller when Maria's past starts menacing their new relationship, bringing the threat of violence into their lives. It's not clear whether their love (or they) can survive.

In the latest Cormoran Strike mystery by Robert Galbraith, "Career of Evil," Strike's assistant Robin Ellacott receives a package containing a woman's severed leg. She's surprised and alarmed, while Strike is only alarmed. He has ideas about who might be responsible, and his and Ellacott's search for the culprit leads to more and more violence. Are they the next victims?

Bestselling suspense author Karin Slaughter's latest novel, "Pretty Girls" reunites two sisters who haven't spoken since the disappearance of their teenage sister 20 years ago. Then, Claire's millionaire husband is killed 20 years later. That's when Claire and sister Lydia, a single mom who struggles to pay the bills, finally start talking. Together, they look to the past for answers and uncover family secrets and possible redemption so many years later.

James Patterson's latest Alex Cross mystery, "Cross Justice," also brings its main character back home to delve into crime and family secrets. With his cousin accused of murder in their corrupt North Carolina hometown, Cross returns home for the first time in decades to prove his relative's innocence. Uncovering a family secret, he gets pulled into a murder case that local cops can't seem to solve. His participation may cost him his life.

Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child's latest Agent Pendergast mystery, "Crimson Shore," starts out innocently enough: Special Agent A.X.L. Pendergast and his ward, Constance Greene, head to the village of Exmouth, Massachusetts, to look into a wine collection heist. But the wine cellar also holds a secret, in the form of a bricked-up niche that once had a skeleton. There is evil in this seaside town, which is rumored to be the location where the real witches, not caught in the Salem witch trials, came to settle down.

In Dean Koontz's latest novel of suspense, "Ashley Bell," it's not enough for Bibi Blair to completely recover from a medical diagnosis that gave her one year to live. Someone manages to convince her that she lived to save someone named Ashley Bell. Blair becomes obsessed with finding Bell and encounters threats from this world and beyond on her journey.

The sixth installment of David Weber's New York Times bestselling Safehold science fiction/fantasy series, "Hell's Foundations Quiver" may finally allow humanity to restart its progress centuries after losing a war against an alien race. Some of the survivors left behind the tools to restart an industrial civilization, but not all of the descendants of the survivors who lost the war want progress to return.

From renowned musician Patti Smith, who won the National Book Award for her autobiographical "Just Kids," comes another gem. "M Train" shares more of Smith's life with the world, including her process of artistic creation, travels that inspire her work and life, and thoughts of a life profoundly lived. Included are her memories of her late husband, Fred Sonic Smith.

In Stuart Woods' latest Stone Barrington thriller, "Foreign Affairs," Barrington heads to Europe for a last-minute business trip that seems to be troubled by accidents and other worrisome events. Our hero travels throughout Europe to find the source of these unfortunate events, perhaps wishing he had missed that seemingly attractive work trip abroad.

Danielle Steel's latest, "Precious Gifts," tells the story of the handsome and charming Paul Parker, who turns out to be a more thoughtful father and ex-husband in death than in life. When his will is read, his ex-wife, three daughters and one troubled son find he's given them each what they need to fulfill their own destiny and find happiness.

In "The Promise," bestselling author Robert Crais pairs Elvis Cole and Joe Pike with the heroes from his novel "Suspect," Scott James and his K-9 partner, Maggie, to solve an extraordinary series of crimes. A missing woman worked for a defense contractor and was being blackmailed. An armed thief is found dead in an abandoned building filled with explosives. It's not clear whether any of our heroes will make it out alive.

In "Avenue of Mysteries," John Irving echoes the powerful writing he shared with the world in his classics, "The Cider House Rules" and "The World According to Garp." In his latest book, we meet Juan Diego, whose sister, Lupe, can see people's pasts without them telling her, her own future and that of her brother; and she can tell what most people are thinking. "Avenue" shows what happens when her brother's past collides with his future.
