Former FBI agent Robert Hanssen is serving a life sentence without the possibility of parole for his role in spying for the Soviet Union and Russia. Hanssen, a 25-year FBI veteran, was the bureau's liaison to the State Department Office of Foreign Missions and was primarily responsible for keeping track of intelligence agents assigned to work in the United States "under diplomatic auspices."

Terry Nichols is serving 161 consecutive life terms in Supermax without the possibility of parole. Nichols helped Timothy McVeigh make the bomb that detonated at the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City, killing 168 people in 1995.

Eric Robert Rudolph is serving four consecutive life sentences plus 120 years for an attack on Atlanta's Centennial Olympic Park in 1996. Two people died and more than 100 others were injured in the bombing.
