Blake Morrow photographed his friend Elizabeth Beard before her 150-lb. weight loss and after, then spliced the images together for a series of photos featuring Beth facing off with herself.

Morrow and Beard set out to shoot a simple before-and-after series, but the concept turned into much more when they decided to take inspiration from movies and popular culture.

"Everyone experiences their 'off days' and I don't think that how often you experience them has to strictly do with your weight. They have to do with how you feel in your own skin. For me, at that point, I was ready to be done with that part of me. I wanted to change, so I took the steps to do so," Beard said in an email.

Beard was proud of how she looked before -- as well as after. "I rocked that black cocktail dress in my before (picture)," she said.

Here Beard poses as both halves of the dynamic husband-and-wife artist partnership Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera.

Morrow went old-school with this shot of Beard dressed as comedic duo Laurel and Hardy.

Netflix's "Orange Is the New Black" inspired this shot of a prisoner and her jailer. Both Morrow and Beard are big fans of popular culture and based the scenes on some of their favorite forms of entertainment.

Julie Andrews, eat your heart out. "Sound of Music" Beth takes a turn as both a nun and a governess. The playful scenes were conceived by Morrow, who said Beard acted them out masterfully. "Blake and I have been friends for years and so it always felt safe on the set," Beard said.

Morrow described himself and his friend Beard as "sci-fi geeks" so they had to incorporate space travel in The Beth Project.

A more-svelte version of Beard wears a T-shirt she used as a prop two years earlier in her "before" photo shoot. But she said who she is hasn't changed. "I'm still the same person as I was before, just more active and much more healthy."
