During her acceptance speech, Abdundi said: "The award also goes to women victims of armed violence perpetrated by terrorist groups, community militias and gangs along Kenya /Somalia border and who used their armed power and arms in attacking, raping, gang raping and blocking women fleeing droughts from reaching Dadaab refugee camp in northern Kenya."
