Say hello to the Seadevil —
On November 17, researchers from the Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute (MBARI) recorded what they believe to be the first video of this rare deep-sea anglerfish in Monterey Canyon, about 1,900 feet below the ocean surface.

Say hello to the Seadevil —
This particular female anglerfish is known as the "Black Seadevil." Fans of the 2003 Pixar film "Finding Nemo" might recognize it.

Say hello to the Seadevil —
The vehicle which located the fish is a remotely operated vehicle known as "Doc Ricketts."

Say hello to the Seadevil —
The Western Flyer is our research vessel that serves as a mother ship for "Doc Ricketts" when it is out on expeditions.
