FEBRUARY 27 - JOHANNESBURG, SOUTH AFRICA: Television employee Zixolisile Mtebele protests against the December arrest of a team of Al Jezeera journalists in Egypt. FEBRUARY 25 - VENICE, ITALY: A woman dressed in carnival costume poses in front of gondolas in Saint Mark's Square. The 2014 Carnival of Venice will run from February 15 to March 4 and includes a program of gala dinners, parades, dances, masked balls and music events.

FEBRUARY 24 - SOCHI, RUSSIA: Artists perform during the closing ceremony of the 2014 Winter Olympics on February 23. "Russia delivered all what it had promised," said International Olympic Committee (IOC) President Thomas Bach in his speech at the ceremony.

FEBRUARY 21 - DHAKA, BANGLADESH: A Bangladeshi woman decorates the Shaheed Minar, or Martyr's Monuments, on International Mother Language Day. A number of students died during the movement in 1952, defending the recognition of Bangla as a state language of the former East Pakistan, now Bangladesh. The day is now observed across the world to promote linguistic and cultural diversity and multilingualism.

FEBRUARY 20 - MOUNT KUMGANG, NORTH KOREA: South Korean Park Yang-Gon (left) embraces his North Korean brother Park Yang-Soo during a family reunion after being separated for 60 years. The event, which allows reunions of family members separated by the Korean War, is a result of a recent agreement between North and South Korea that had been suspended since 2010.

FEBRUARY 17 - LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM: Kenyan actress Lupita Nyong'o arrives on the red carpet for the British Academy Film Awards (BAFTA) at the Royal Opera House on February 16.
