The Japanese Grand Prix at Suzuka has produced some of F1's most memorable title duels.

1988 —
McLaren teammates Ayrton Senna (left) and Alain Prost embrace after the Brazilian clinched the 1988 title in Australia. Their friendship on and off the track didn't last long.

1989 —
The pair clashed with six laps to go at the chicane during the 1989 Japanese Grand Prix.

1989 —
Senna (closest to the camera) managed to get going again and take the checkered flag in the race but was later disqualified for using the chicane's escape road to rejoin the circuit. The result meant Prost won the drivers' title that year.

1990 —
The pair would clash again at the start of the Japanese Grand Prix the following season.

Prost (left), who had moved to Ferrari in 1990, was shunted by Senna as they approached Turn One.

1990 —
Prost and Senna make their way back to the pit lane on foot after the crash which handed the Brazilian the world title that season.

The rivalry between the Frenchman (right) and the late Brazilian was one of F1's most acrimonious ever seen in the sport's history.
