Early in his match against Stan Wawrinka in the second round at Wimbledon, Juan Martin del Potro took a seat on the grass.

Beset by wrist injuries, del Potro fell behind by a set to Wawrinka.

But del Potro, the 2009 U.S. Open champion, stormed back to take the second set, helped by Wawrinka's dip.

The swoon continued for Wawrinka, who lost the third set in a lopsided tiebreak.

Del Potro offered up a kiss after he clinched the match in four sets. It was his first top-five win in three years.

A jubilant del Potro walked off court. He'll now face France's Lucas Pouille in the third round.

Del Potro and Wawrinka played under a roof on Centre Court ... because of yet more rain at SW19.

Serena Williams also played under the roof and was involved in a major struggle.

Williams defeated fellow American Christina McHale 6-7 (7-9) 6-2 6-4.

Older sister Venus had an even tougher time. The five-time winner fended off Daria Kasatkina in a 10-8 third set on court 1.

Novak Djokovic, who has won four straight majors, trailed American Sam Querrey when rain halted play at 8 p.m. local time.

Nick Kyrgios, left, beat Dustin Brown in a short five-setter. It lasted two hours, five minutes.
