And Djokovic will face Great Britain's Andy Murray in a repeat of this year's Australian Open final.

Murray defeated defending champion Stan Wawrinka in four sets, producing one of the most impressive clay court performances of his career, prevailing 6-4 6-2 4-6 6-2.

On the women's side of the tournament, Serena Williams will have the chance to defend her title after beating unseeded Dutchwoman Kiki Bertens 7-6 (9-7) 6-4.

She will meet Spain's Garbine Muguruza after the world No. 4 beat 2010 French Open finalist Sam Stosur 6-2 6-4.
