
The English Premier League leads the way when it comes to biggest revenue generated from front-of-shirt sponsorship, bringing in $370 million for the 2015-16 season -- a 35% increase from last year's total of $273.6 million.

The Premier League accounts for nearly 40% of the total $930.8 million generated by the top six leagues in Europe this season. The German Bundesliga is second with $188.3 million.

Despite boasting the world's best player in Lionel Messi, Spain's La Liga is a distant third with $117.7 million.

France's Ligue 1 sits fourth with a shirt sponsorship revenue total of $115.5 million, ahead of Italy's Serie A ($93.1 million) and Netherlands' Eredivisie ($45.9 million).

The size of the shirt-sponsorship industry across the top six leagues in Europe has grown in total from $825.4 million in 2014-15 to over $931 million this season, representing a 13% increase.
