Sewn lips —
Migrants have sewn their lips together to protest again the demolition of part of the "Jungle" migrant camp in Calais, France.

Facing eviction —
The migrants held signs saying "We are humans" and "Where is your democracy?" during a protest in the camp on Wednesday, March 2.

Hoping to enter the UK —
French authorities plan to demolish part of the camp and relocate the migrants, in response to unsanitary conditions at the site.

A sprawling camp —
The camp is home to thousands of migrants who in most cases traveled for several weeks or months across Europe. With an estimated size of 40 acres, it hosts shops and a makeshift medical clinic.

Camp clearance sparked protests —
The removal process has sparked protests and violent clashes. Four people were arrested and 11 police officers were injured.

A peaceful clearence? —
Authorities had announced that it would last several weeks and would be carried out in cooperation with charity associations.

Straggling to cope with the flux of migrants —
Europe has not been able to offer a unified response to the unprecedented influx of migrants. The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees warned Tuesday of an "imminent humanitarian crisis" in Europe.

Different bottleneck, similar protest —
A similar protest took place in November 2015 on the Greek-Macedonian border. Six men sewed their lips together after being barred from continuing their journey to Europe.
