Cristiano Ronaldo might have scored hundreds of goals and won countless awards but did the Real Madrid star make it into CNN's Champions League XI? We asked our team to select a goalkeeper, four defenders, three midfielders and three forwards. So who made the cut...and who didn't?

Manuel Neuer eased to the No.1 spot with the Bayern Munich goalkeeper collecting more votes than all his rivals put together. The Germany international is regarded the best in the world and finished took his place between the sticks ahead of Thibaut Courtois and Petr Cech.

Dani Alves takes the right back spot after coming in unopposed. The Brazilian is a joy to watch with his endless energy allowing him to raid down the right-hand side. He's also known for his rather colorful fashion sense -- if Barcelona win the competition again, don't bet against another wild outfit.

Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane was a huge favorite with the voters and finished top of the pile. The 22-year-old is expected to be a big star for France at the European Championship finals in June.

Thiago Silva led Paris Saint-Germain to the quarterfinal stage last season and he's up against Chelsea once more. The Brazilian defender has enjoyed another fine campaign and just edged out Juventus' Leo Bonucci and Barcelona's Gerard Pique.

The 23-year-old Bayern star edged this one with both his teammate Juan Bernat and Barcelona's Jordi Alba also gathering votes. Alaba's pace, power and ability to score sensational goals, as he did against Arsenal earlier in the competition, gives him the edge.

Nobody received more votes than Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba. At 22, Pogba's potential is absolutely frightening. He's arguably one of the best central midfielders in the world and is a key part of the Juve team which is top of Serie A.

Mesut Ozil is the only player based in the English Premier League to be included in the team. The Arsenal midfielder leads the field with 17 assists in the English top flight, while also contributing six goals to keep his side in with a shout of the title.

Seven La Liga titles, four Champions League crowns, a European Championship winner and a man whose goal led Spain to World Cup glory in 2010, there aren't many who can compete with Andres Iniesta. The little magician, 31, has wowed fans for years and his inclusion was a mere formality.

Neymar has been in electric form this season and has helped Barcelona blow away the opposition in La Liga and in Europe. The 24-year-old, who is part of a lethal trio with Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi, has scored 22 goals so far this season.

He's scored 39 goals so far this campaign and is the leading scorer in Spain, so there was little doubt that Luis Suarez was going to feature. The former Liverpool man hit a hat-trick in Sunday's 6-1 win over Celta Vigo.

This guy was always going to be in the team, wasn't he? Yes, Lionel Messi, the five-time World Player of the Year, takes the final space in the side. Just the 25 goals for him so far this season -- he's only getting started though.

Sorry Cristiano, you just missed out. Do you agree with our team? Who would have had instead? Would you have had Ronaldo ahead of Neymar? Or perhaps you'd have Busquets instead of Ozil? Let us know your best Champions League XI by tweeting @CNNFC.
