Quade Cooper is hoping to win a place in Australia's sevens team for the 2016 Rio Olympics.

Cooper has been given time off by his French club Toulon to take part in the Sevens World Series.

He joined Toulon in November after the 2015 Rugby World Cup, where he played his 58th and potentially final 15-a-side international for the Wallabies in the group game against Uruguay.

Cooper didn't help his World Cup chances when he was yellow-carded in a crushing defeat against the All Blacks in a Bledisloe Cup match in Auckland in August 2015.

Here Cooper shows the kind of handling skills that prompted Toulon to make him one of the club's big-money signings.

He was not part of the Wallabies team that lost the 2015 World Cup final against New Zealand, and suffered disappointment four years earlier in the semis against the same opposition. Cooper feuded with Richie McCaw after kneeing the All Blacks skipper in the head during a pre-World Cup game.

Cooper is close friends with New Zealand rugby star Sonny Bill Williams. Here they compete for the ball during the 2011 Super Rugby final between the Reds and the Crusaders.

Cooper and Williams have both competed as boxers. Here the Australian congratulates the Kiwi after his win against Francois Botha in February 2013.

Cooper fought on the undercard, beating Barry Dunnett in their cruiserweight fight in Brisbane.
