The 42-year-old is an expert taker of free-kicks and penalties, with all of his goals coming from set pieces. He is officially recognized as the highest-scoring goalkeeper in football history and he became the first player in his position to score over 100 goals.

Ceni appeared for Brazil on 16 occasions and was a member of the squad which won the 2002 World Cup in Japan and South Korea, although he didn't play any games during the tournament.
