German champions Bayern Munich looked in trouble after losing the first leg of its European Champions League quarterfinal with Porto 3-1 but on home soil it blew its opponents away by scoring five goals in the opening 40 minutes and running out 6-1 winners.

Bayern's third goal was a beauty, as Robert Lewandowski headed home after a cross from Philipp Lahm was touched on deftly by Thomas Muller.

And after Muller's deflected shot had made it 4-0, Lewandowski was on target again as he rifled home from inside the area to compound Porto's misery and make it 5-0 before halftime. Porto did pull a goal back through Jackson Martinez but after Ivan Marcano was sent off for the visitors, Xabi Alonso made it 6-1 on the night and 7-4 on aggregate.
