Yep, Woods' last victory at Augusta pre-dates the iPhone. Before Steve Jobs launched the first generation of Apple's revolutionary product in June 2007 we were all still punching numbers into unresponsive handsets and grappling with aerials. Now we are all swipe and touch experts and Apple has shifted over 700 million iPhones.

Even though a decade is nothing in the infinite realm of time, did we really think back in 2005 that 100 men and women would be chosen to live on Mars in the year 2025? The Mars One mission has been described as "suicidal" but that hasn't deterred the candidates, who are desperate to settle on the red planet.

Thomas Beatie became the first transsexual man to give birth to a baby in 2008 and has subsequently had two more children. Beatie was born a woman but underwent hormone therapy before being legally declared a man. He retained his primary female sexual organs so he could one day get pregnant.

Back in April 2005, the word tweet was still associated with nature. But in March the following year, one of Twitter's founders, Jack Dorsey, posted the first message on the social networking site: "Just setting up my twttr." Now 288 million of us twits are active on the site every month.

The only people who had heard of Justin Bieber in 2005 were his family, friends and those at Jeanne Sauvé Catholic School in Stratford, Canada. Now the 21-year-old is one of pop's biggest stars; he has 62 million Twitter followers and an estimated 3.75 billion YouTube views for his videos -- a figure equal to over half of the world's total population. Now that really is unbeliebable.

No likes, no pokes and fewer cute cat videos. Though the networking site was around in embryo format before 2005, Mark Zuckerberg only registered Facebook.com in August of that year. What began as a way for Harvard students and staff to have an online presence by way of a profile now has over a billion global users.

A decade ago, Super Bowl glory was still a pipe dream for the New Orleans Saints and Seattle Seahawks. But in 2009, four years after its city was devastated by Hurricane Katrina, the Saints beat the Indianapolis Colts 31-17. Seattle's first NFL success came in 2013, thrashing Denver Broncos 43-8. Peyton Manning was on the losing team both times.

If you'd asked someone about superfoods in 2005, they'd probably think you meant soup. But soon after Tiger's Masters win that year, the concept exploded, with shoppers desperate to get their hands on spinach, goji berries, quinoa and kale. The boom shows no signs of slowing down, either.

A coarse example it may be, but we've all spent an inordinate amount of time in the bathroom since Woods last tore up Augusta National. The average man spends 91 hours a year on the loo, which equates to nearly 38 days over the last decade. Women, perhaps surprisingly, have spent, on average, just 30 days.
