Venus Williams had reason to smile Monday at the Australian Open. When she beat Agnieszka Radwanska, she achieved a first grand slam quarterfinal in five years.

It was also Williams' first win over a top-10 player at a major in five years.

The last time Venus and younger sister Serena both appeared in a grand slam quarterfinal was at Wimbledon in 2010. Serena progressed to the last eight at Melbourne earlier Monday.

If they both win their quarterfinals, the siblings would meet in a grand slam for the first time since Wimbledon 2009.

That year, Serena beat Venus 7-6 (7/3) 6-2 in the final at the All England Club.

The Australian Open was where the sisters first faced off in 1998. Venus won on that occasion but Serena leads the series 14-11 overall.
