A thoroughbred gift collection —
The British monarch receives hundreds of presents from world leaders and well-wishers each year. Top of the list? Equine-related gifts.

My little pony —
Her Majesty's love of thoroughbreds is well-known and last year she received everything from a mounted sculpture of a white horse from France's President Francois Hollande, to a dressage crop from the governor-general of Canada, David Johnston. Here, a doll and toy horse belonging to the Queen as a child were displayed at Buckingham Palace in an exhibition earlier in the year.

Give and take —
Here, the British monarch and her husband Prince Philip present Pope Francis with a hamper of food and drink.

Museum pieces —
Many gifts received by the Queen end up going on display in museums across the Commonwealth. Here, the dresses from her tour of Australasian countries is displayed at Buckingham Palace.

Bowled over? —
Her Majesty accepts a bowl given to her during a tour of Sheridan College in Oakville, Canada.

Castle archive —
Presents which don't go on display in the Queen's official residencies are stored at the Royal Archive at Windsor Castle.

Baby george, giant wombat —
Prince George received a huge number of gifts during his tour of Australia and New Zealand with his parents, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, last year. The Australian Governor-General, Peter Cosgrove, gave the toddler a toy wombat bigger than the child.

Teddy boy —
Fittingly, the previous year Prince George also received a teddy wearing the same silk jacket as those worn by the Queen's jockeys, from promotional group Great British Racing.
